YOUR CONTROL
✳ Your keys stay yours
01 / THE ESSENTIALS

Confidence starts with understanding.

At Ledger.com/Start, the first lesson is simple: crypto lives on a blockchain, while your wallet protects the private keys that authorize access to it. A Ledger signer keeps those keys offline and asks you to verify transactions directly on its trusted screen.

Self-custody gives you more direct control—and more responsibility. Your recovery phrase is the backup to that control, so it belongs somewhere private and offline, never in a photo, cloud drive, email, or message. Explore the Ledger Academy learning library before making decisions.

02 / YOUR PATH

Choose where to begin.

✳

Keep the golden rule close.

Never share your 24-word recovery phrase—not with support staff, a website, or anyone claiming they can help. Ledger will never ask you for it. Verify important details using the official Ledger support center.

03 / A SMARTER START

Make every decision an informed one.

Ledger.com/Start is intended to help newcomers orient themselves around hardware wallets and digital-asset security. Before choosing a wallet, consider what you want to do, which networks matter to you, and how much responsibility you are prepared to take on. A hardware signer can keep private keys offline, but it does not decide whether a transaction, application, or investment is right for you.

During setup, use official instructions and take your time. Understand the difference between a device PIN and a recovery phrase: the PIN helps control access to a particular device, while the recovery phrase can restore access and therefore must remain confidential. Write the phrase down only as instructed, keep it away from cameras and connected devices, and do not store it in a password manager or cloud account unless you have independently understood the risks of that choice.

When sending assets, check the address, network, and amount carefully. Blockchain transactions are often difficult or impossible to reverse once confirmed. Start with a small test only when appropriate, account for network fees, and never rely on a promise of guaranteed returns. If a message creates urgency or directs you to reveal secret words, pause and verify through a trusted channel you reach independently.

Use the Ledger Academy and the Ledger support center to continue learning about setup and security. Check current official instructions because products and processes can change.
